Using Soleic® bio-based polyurethane material, NAMU launches a brand-new sports recovery slipper.

Recently, the sports recovery brand NAMU announced the launch of its new product—the NAMU SL01 sports recovery slippers—designed to provide sports enthusiasts with intelligent recovery and posture correction features. Made from Algenesis Labs’ revolutionary 100% biodegradable polyurethane material, Soleic®, these slippers are the first sports recovery slippers that seamlessly combine athletic performance with environmental responsibility.

The NAMU recovery slipper features a brand-patented recovery arch support system. Its unique design helps athletes restore proper foot alignment and function with every step they take. Combined with Soleic® material technology, these slippers deliver exceptional athletic recovery performance while completely eliminating the issue of traditional microplastic pollution—a significant breakthrough for both sports enthusiasts and the global environment.

Kevin Massar, President and Head of Product at NAMU, said: “NAMU’s mission is to provide every sports enthusiast with innovative recovery solutions. Our partnership with Algenesis Labs enables us to launch a product that not only supports athletic recovery but also aligns with our values and social responsibility. The NAMU Recovery Slippers set a new benchmark for recovery footwear.”

Stephen Mayfield, CEO of Algenesis Labs, added: “The creation of Soleic® is aimed at demonstrating that performance and sustainability can go hand in hand. By using plant-based materials, eliminating microplastics, and reducing our carbon footprint, we’re reshaping the future of footwear. We’re honored to see our technology brought to life in NAMU’s sports recovery slippers.”

The NAMU Recovery Slippers will be officially launched on December 1, 2025, via the NAMU official website. These slippers combine cushioned comfort, molded support technology, and eco-friendly innovation, marking the dawn of a new era in recovery gear.

It is reported that Algenesis Labs has developed bio-based polyols, bio-based polyurethane foams, and bio-based thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs) using algae and non-food plant sources, and is bringing these products to market under its B2B materials brand, Soleic®. Soleic® not only meets the performance requirements of conventional polyurethane applications but also addresses one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time: microplastics.

Algenesis Labs’ Soleic® bio-based polyester polyol has been certified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s BioPreferred program, with a 100% bio-based content. By using algae and non-food crops as raw materials, this polyol does not compete with food production nor contribute to deforestation. Algenesis Labs’ unique Soleic® bio-based polyester polyol can be used to manufacture soft polyurethane foams, ultimately applied in midsoles and insoles for footwear; it can also be used to produce bio-based TPU, which finds applications in breathable and waterproof textiles as well as injection-molded products such as phone cases. Algenesis Labs initially developed the Soleic® bio-based polyester polyol with the goal that end products made from it would be fully biodegradable at the end of their life cycle—breaking down into carbon dioxide and biomass when composted, in soil, or in marine environments, thus avoiding persistent accumulation in ecosystems.
